Choose PP When These Conditions Lead the Decision
PP may be appropriate when the project needs a rigid plastic tube, selected chemical resistance, low density, custom color or equipment-side geometry. Examples include industrial fluid routing, chemical-handling lines, protective sleeves and custom round tubing.
Before selecting PP, provide:
- Exact chemical and concentration
- Normal and maximum temperature
- Operating and surge pressure
- Indoor or outdoor installation
- Required stiffness and support spacing
- OD, ID and wall thickness
- Purity or recycled-content restrictions
- Joining or assembly method
PP is not universally resistant to every chemical. Compatibility should be reviewed under the actual concentration and temperature.
Choose PE When These Conditions Lead the Decision
PE and PE are commonly considered for outdoor irrigation, water-distribution and long routing projects. Flexibility, coil supply and impact behavior can be useful in field installation.
Before selecting PE, provide:
- Material grade required by the project
- Pressure or non-pressure operation
- OD and SDR or wall thickness
- Flow and route length
- Burial depth and soil condition
- UV exposure and storage time
- Coil or straight-length preference
- Applicable standard and marking
PE pricing should never be compared without matching grade and SDR.
Pressure, Stiffness and Flexibility
Pressure pipe design is different from a custom rigid tube or non-pressure conduit. For pressure systems, confirm material grade, SDR or wall thickness, temperature and maximum pressure. For custom tubes, stiffness, deflection, impact and tolerance may be more important than PN.
State whether the pipe is:
- Pressure water pipe
- Gravity drainage
- Chemical transfer
- Protective conduit
- Structural or decorative tube
- Flexible equipment hose
This classification prevents the supplier from applying the wrong design logic.
Outdoor and Buried Conditions
For outdoor use, specify UV exposure, color, temperature and storage duration. For burial, provide trench, cover, soil and traffic conditions. A material that is suitable chemically can still fail if wall thickness, support or installation is inadequate.
Joining and Mating Components
